| Greetings everyone, It's Alicia... as all of "last" year's officers were seniors, i guess i'll be cleaning up the xanga. It's been a while since i've used xanga, and a lot has changed and we need to update as such. Now, this is just a thought i had today: is xanga really the best means of communicating these days? I know that i forgot it even existed this summer, but then again, i've hardly been online. We'll have to discuss this matter when we start having meetings again, but if you're reading this, think about it so we can make a decision. In the mean time, i'm going to attempt to get the xanga looking it's best for right now.

| Hello all,
I thought I'd just update as to keep everyone well informed.
Last meeting was the deadline to hand in t-shirt money. Everyone that had signed up had paid, but if you wanted a t-shirt and didn't sign up then, well, it's too late. Wait another two years for the next one I guess.
We've decided that we won't host a Day of Silence assembly in our school. We've already had three assemblys the first half of this year that all had messages of tolerance and kindness, so at this point another one would be overkill. Or pointless.
In place of the assembly we shall provide a shuttle bus to the DoS rally at the GAGV at the city. It would take place after school on the 18th of April, but we'll get more details out as that approaches. What we still need to do is create a banner to send to the youth center to represent our GSA and figure out how to raise awareness about the Day of Silence in our school.
Our next meeting is on Monday, during advisement in Mr. Benzan's room. 10 o'clock I think, but listen to announcements just to make sure. I won't actually be there so our VP and Secretary will be handeling the meeting; they don't know this yet, but they will soon. T-shirts may be in by then, but we'll see.
Attendance has kind of been lame lately, so please please please start coming to meetings again if you haven't in a while.
GSA President, -Mike
EDIT: I just recieved an email that said there was a meeting today in advisement, which was a little surprising. I was at an adept program, and I apologize about the confusion and have no idea how the meeting went today. Watch this space for an update where I know what I'm typing about!

| I would like to apologize about the cancellation of today's meeting on such short notice. The Rachel's Challenge assembly was taking place at the same time, so the meeting has been moved to Friday. Same room, same time.
I'm also using presidential powers to extend payments for t-shirts until Friday, in case you meant to give it to Ms. Frank today. Which I did; so that's why it's the order is extended until Friday.
Hope to see you there,
GSA President, Mike

| Hey hey GSA,
So, the t-shirts are ready for order and they look awesome.
 Ta-da!
Short Sleeves = $8.50 Long Sleeves = $12.50
Ms. Frank currently has the sign up sheet for orders. If you want to have a t-shirt you must have an order placed and PAID FOR by the the 14th. No money, no t-shirt! This is the date of our next meeting. Bring in your money and you can drop it off at Ms. Frank's or Mr. Benzan's room.
As just mentioned, our next meeting is going to be on the 14th, at 9:30 in Mr. Benzan's room. We'll be finalizing things for the Health Fair (which is the 15th) and doing more for the Day of Silence.
It was suggested that we have more planning days after school for the Day of Silence so that more members can attend. We're working to get those days planned, so as soon as they're decided we'll send out emails and the like.
Remember your t-shirt money!
GSA President, Mike
EDIT: There is also a very important Day of Silence meeting at the Youth Center on March 15th; if you're interested in going just come find me. Also, for everyone, Toby would like it if we submitted a poem to be used at the Day of Silence Rally. It should more than likely focus on GLBT themes and/or be about the Day of Silence.

| Alrighty all you GSA-goers! I bring you well-wishes and meeting minutes! Sorry it's late, but I have a myspace addict in my house....>.< okay here's what went down:
We'd like to have some GSA members start meeting outside of our regular meetings as a Day of Silence Committee sort of thing at which we'd talk about
- educating the teachers
- making rainbow ribbons
- ally cards
- assembly materials
- BHS TV coverage
In our regular meetings we'll also be talking about this stuff too! Our first "extra" meeting will be Friday March 2nd after school @ 2:15 in room 203, where we always meet. We also have a GSA advisement meeting that day!
If you've been missing meetings lately - we've been missing you! but here are some updates of what's been going on:
T-shirts: our shirts will be black with "individually" patterned rainbow-colored symbols (created by Caroline). At our next meeting on the second Mr. Benzan will show us all what one will look like as a demo, and then we'll have a definite price. So far it looks like the T-shirts will be between $7-$10.
Some other things which we briefly discussed: there is an upcoming equality conference in Albany, the dates of which i forgot to write down, but we'll probably talk more abotu it next meeting, too. Preparations for the upcoming Health Fair will need to be made, we already have a very nice posterboard (courtesy of Stephanie) but we'll need volunteers to "man the battle-station" and stickers/candy and pamphelets or other fun things to attract visitors!
Wow, that was a lot to type! I hope to see you all next next Friday and enjoy your break!
-sincerely secretary Alicia
